Card of Blessing
Late autumn’s frown portends a dimming light
Of overhanging greys — a changing face
To dark and shortened days. Oh, blessed sight:
White blanket-petals soft descend — a cleansing grace.
Then brilliant sunlight bursting on the plain
Makes diamonds glitter bright, a magic hymn
Of beauty; heaven-sent, it draws to heart again
The scene of Glory ’round the stable dim.
A child is born! Our hopes revive anew,
For God has sent a very special One
To bear our grief, our burdens — not a few.
Like virgin snow, our anguished hearts are cleansed
By His own Son.
